چکیده

Micro/macro plastics are ubiquitous and emerging agents causing many ecological problems in marine environments. Plastics carry various fouling organisms, including harmful microorganisms, that could potentially have impacts on the environment eventually human health. In this study, micro/macro drifting at multiple locations Jeju Strait around Island, Korea, were collected analyzed. DNA metabarcoding scanning electron microscopy used to characterize species composition of attached eukaryotic microbial communities, with a special emphasis or toxic dinoflagellates, fungi, parasites. A total 1,035 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) identified from surrounding seawater samples. Two types samples shared half OTUs, which approximately 12% unique plastic These included 68 Archaeplastida (54.0%), 45 Stramenopiles (35.7%), 12 Opisthokonta (9.5%), 3 Alveolata (2.4%) OTUs. The dinoflagellates observed surface Alexandrium , Coolia Dinophysis Heterocapsa Karlodinium Noctiluca Ostreopsis Prorocentrum Scrippsiella Tripos . most dominant parasite community plastisphere was represented by fungi (42% all OTUs), followed Oomycota (33%), (14%), (12%). Nonetheless, study demonstrates communities considerably between seawater. This implies serve as new habitat sea function dispersal vectors facilitate spread

Marine fish communities in shallow volcanic habitats.

This survey of the marine ichthyofauna of the Piton de La Fournaise volcano at Reunion Island is the first explanatory study of fish community structures in this area. It describes and analyses the main qualitative descriptors of the fish communities (i.e. species richness, diet, life history and geographical distribution) and their spatio-temporal organization. This investigation in 2011 exami...

Distinguishing between Microbial Habitats Unravels Ecological Complexity in Coral Microbiomes

The diverse prokaryotic communities associated with reef-building corals may provide important ecological advantages to their threatened hosts. The consistency of relationships between corals and specific prokaryotes, however, is debated, and the locations where microbially mediated processes occur in the host are not resolved. Here, we examined how the prokaryotic associates of five common Car...

Effect of pesticides on microbial communities in container aquatic habitats

Container aquatic habitats support a specialized community of macroinvertebrates (e.g. mosquitoes) that feed on microbial communities associated with decaying organic matter. These aquatic habitats are often embedded within and around agricultural lands and are frequently exposed to pesticides. We used a microcosm approach to examine the single and combined effects of two herbicides (atrazine, ...

Recurring seasonal dynamics of microbial communities in stream habitats.

Recurring seasonal patterns of microbial distribution and abundance in three third-order temperate streams within the southeast Pennsylvania Piedmont were observed over 4 years. Populations associated with streambed sediments and rocks (epilithon) were identified using terminal restriction length polymorphism (tRFLP) and sequencing of 16S rRNA genes selectively amplified with primers for the ba...

Microbial Diversity in Extreme Marine Habitats and Their Biomolecules

Extreme marine environments have been the subject of many studies and scientific publications. For many years, these environmental niches, which are characterized by high or low temperatures, high-pressure, low pH, high salt concentrations and also two or more extreme parameters in combination, have been thought to be incompatible to any life forms. Thanks to new technologies such as metagenomi...
